"When I dropped this cup, I was already stressed. Part of a matching set, mine big, and my daughters, mini. I was so mad at myself I hadn’t broken my own cup, I broke hers while using it for paint water. This painting was largely a meditation on my mistakes: usually simple clumsiness, others more deeply embarrassing. Sitting in that feeling, spending hours staring at a perceived failure and making it into something beautiful was profoundly healing."
